The Music Education Academy nurtures musical talent and develops each student’s full potential through inspiring teacher mentorship, performances, academic music exams, and structured learning. We build confidence, creativity, and lifelong skills that support success in music and in life.
Many parents ask about my journey in music. It began at the age of 11, when my father took me to a local music store in Morwell. I wasn’t a natural, but through dedication and long hours of practice, my love for music grew—and with it, a dream. At 18, I began formal studies at the Melba Conservatorium in Melbourne, learning from many gifted musicians. It was there that I made my first promise to myself: one day, I would build a music school where everyone could experience the joy and benefits of learning a musical instrument.
In 1995, I continued my studies in composition at La Trobe University. Two years later, at the age of 23, I was diagnosed with cancer. During my treatment, I made a second promise: if I survived, I would create a school to share the gift of music with children in the community. In 2007, after completing my Master’s degree in Music Education at Monash University, that promise became a reality. The Music Education Academy was born as a way to give back to the community for the opportunities I had been given and to inspire the next generation of music students.
Today, as both a father and a music teacher, I am deeply committed to helping children explore their passions, discover creativity, and build their own dreams.
Teaching and sharing music has been my lifelong passion, and I find myself reliving this journey every day through my students. I warmly invite you to be part of this dream.
We have had a very good experience with Music education Academy. Both our children have been enjoying learning music since a very young age. Their teachers are calm and patient with children while they learn how to play music. Ming and Jeri have been teaching Guitar and Piano respectively to my children and have been fantastic. Ming is a amazing guitar teacher. He has been patient and kind while teaching us, and you can also feel the passion he has while teaching me and my brother for guitar. The academy also has amazing resources and events that enhances our music journey, such as yearly performances that helped boost my confidence in performing by a lot!
